Join Us in Spreading Hyperhidrosis Awareness!

November is Hyperhidrosis Awareness Month, and we’re so glad you’re part of it! Your participation is powerful. Together, we can amplify the message that excessive, uncontrollable sweating is a serious medical condition that deserves serious attention.

This November, we’re also expanding the conversation to acknowledge disruptive body odor, a concern that members of our community have shared with us. By addressing both hyperhidrosis and body odor, we hope to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and help more people find the information and support they need.

You can help by making sure everyone knows there’s hope, community, support, and treatment available.

385 million people worldwide (4.8%) live with hyperhidrosis — a condition that’s often misunderstood and underdiagnosed. In fact, 27% of adults are never diagnosed! And those living with it face nearly three times the risk of anxiety and depression.

The impacts of hyperhidrosis’ unpredictable, uncontrollable sweating range from:

  • Feelings of intense discomfort due to wet clothing, dripping perspiration, slippery skin, and chilling dampness, to...
  • Stigma, embarrassment and significantly increased risks of depression, anxiety, and attention deficit disorder.

Similarly, approximately 2.8% of people experience unpleasant body odor that has a negative impact on their social and psychological well-being. In a 2023 study, university students who self-reported unpleasant pungent odor from their underarms said that, as a result of their odor, they also experienced depression, anxiety, loneliness, and alienation.

But there’s good news: together, we can change these things!

The International Hyperhidrosis Society (IHhS) and its global community are bringing hyperhidrosis and body odor concerns out of hiding — helping people find understanding and treatment.

Thank you for joining us in our mission to make hyperhidrosis and disruptive body odor awareness a priority and to improve understanding of these impactful conditions within your network and community.  To help, we’ve created educational and inspirational content that’s easy to share on your channels — and with a few small tweaks, it’s perfect for any month of the year.  Every post, share, and conversation helps make excessive sweating and body odor awareness a year-round priority.

We have a wealth of resources and content ready for you. Scroll on ambassadors!

Post 3 (For the General Public)

General Post:

November is Hyperhidrosis Awareness Month.

Do you know how underrepresented this extremely distressing and common (affecting 4.8% of people) medical condition is?

According to research published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology in April 2026:

Agendas from ten of the largest U.S. dermatology conferences over the past year included only three dedicated hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) sessions. That’s just three sessions on hyperhidrosis (out of an estimated 900 to 3,000 total sessions) on a condition that impacts 385 million people worldwide!

Let’s make sure that the 4.8% of people living with extreme, often debilitating, sweating know that there are treatments and support available.

Tag, share and amplify hyperhidrosis information all November. Support and information is available at SweatHelp.org
