Denver Hyperhidrosis Treatment Seminar Gets Rave Reviews

A few weeks ago, the IHHS held the first of its 2011 hyperhidrosis continuing education seminars in Denver, CO. (It sold out). Attendees spent the morning hours learning all about hyperhidrosis; the afternoon was then devoted to live-patient training and treatments, including Botox and iontophoresis.

Because these events are offered only a few times a yearand because hyperhidrosis is such a widespread problemthere is a demand among healthcare providers for up-to-date treatment information. As a result, attendees come from a variety of backgrounds and locations. Our Denver session naturally had many participants who came from Colorado; but there were attendees from a number of states, including California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Utah, Texas, Indiana, Missouri, Virginia, and Wisconsinwe even welcomed a pharmacist from Australia!

While there was great variety, the attendees did share a commonality: They each gained expert knowledge from our world-class faculty and are now prepared to offer their patients with excessive sweating outstanding hyperhidrosis care.

At the end of the day, we asked attendees to provide feedback about their experiences at the Denver session. Many of the responses indicate that this one-day seminar has had an impact on the way they perceive the burden of hyperhidrosis and that it will improve the treatments they can offer their patients. Here is a small sampling of the remarks:

"I am so glad that I went to Colorado for this training. I have been meaning to learn more about hyperhidrosis and the current treatment options for this condition. I am a solo Pediatric Dermatology practitioner who works with general dermatologists in a clinical setting. I see almost all of the dermatology patients (under 22 years old) who visit the practice. When I first started practicing, I realized that we lacked the resources and updated skills for treating hyperhidrosis. I was getting referrals from pediatricians and family doctors to treat children and teenagers who have excessive sweating. I was aware of treatments in theory but rarely dared prescribe more than topical agents like Drysol to my patients. After attending the training, I became more comfortable prescribing oral systemic medications for hyperhidrosis. I also gained hands-on experience with an iontophoresis machine and administering Botox injections in different body areas. This was truly invaluable training and very rewarding! My hyperhidrosis patients will appreciate that there are different solutions out there for them to try. We will be buying an iontophoresis machine soon and will start offering Botox to those who qualify to receive this treatment. I send many thanks to the IHHS, the patient volunteers, and my teachers that day!"

"I was particularly impressed by the quality of the presentations on the science behind the therapy and by the evidence that hyperhidrosis therapy improves the quality of patients lives perhaps more than any other therapy in dermatology!"
