FAQ's

Although we've designed the Physician Finder to be intuitive and easy-to-use, questions do sometimes arise. To help, we've compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions below.

I can’t find a doctor on the Physician Finder within a desirable distance from my home or workplace. What should I do?
Many of the physicians listed in your database indicate that they treat hyperhidrosis with Botox injections, but I would like to try iontophoresis first. What should I do?

I can’t find a doctor on the Physician Finder within a desirable distance from my home or workplace. What should I do?

We are sorry that, at this time, you haven’t been able to find a registered physician within the desired distance of your home or workplace.

You may have more luck if you broaden your search. For instance, search a larger area by increasing the number of miles from your postal code that you are willing to travel or by not designating a particular state (it is sometimes necessary to travel to a neighboring state for optimal care).

If broadening your search criteria does not help, please be patient. We are working feverishly to educate physicians across America and around the world about the latest hyperhidrosis research and treatment options. And, after each of our educational events, more and more physicians register with our Physician Finder so, please, check back often. New physicians join our database everyday. For more information about the continuing medical education events we hold for healthcare professionals, visit Coming Events.

In the meantime, you may consider talking to a dermatologist about hyperhidrosis. In our experience, dermatologists tend to be among the most informed about excessive sweating and the various treatment options available.

You can also help us to provide up-to-date, reliable, objective hyperhidrosis information to healthcare professionals by giving them one of our educational booklets, telling them about this informative site (www.SweatHelp.org), and letting them know that we conduct comprehensive continuing medical education programs focused on hyperhidrosis.

Many of the physicians listed in your database indicate that they treat hyperhidrosis with Botox injections, but I would like to try iontophoresis first. What should I do?

Many patients have found relief from palmar (hands) and/or plantar (feet) hyperhidrosis by using iontophoresis. If you would like to try iontophoresis, learn more about it by visiting Iontophoresis in our Hyperhidrosis Treatments area.

If your doctor seems unfamiliar with iontophoresis, print out our Iontophoresis page and take it to your next appointment, or refer him or her to our Healthcare Professionals information and continuing medical education opportunities in our Coming Events area.

If your physician is not equipped to provide you with iontophoresis hyperhidrosis treatment, ask him or her for a referral to someone who is.
