Systemic Medication: Indomethacin for generalized hyperhidrosis



A 61-year-old woman had lifelong generalized hyperhidrosis that had been worsening over 4 to 6 months, with severe night sweats and no signs of any systemic disease underlying her symptoms.[144] Coincidental treatment of arthritis with indomethacin 25 mg 3 times a day relieved her excessive sweating, which returned when indomethacin was discontinued. These findings led to speculation that prostaglandins may be involved in the regulation of sweating.
